In Wall or In Ceiling Speakers
In-wall and in-ceiling speakers work in the same way as regular speakers, but
they're mounted in a frame and set into the wall (or ceiling). Instead of a separate speaker cabinet, they use the
wall itself as the cabinet.
Most in-wall style speakers are full range so as with the satellite style speakers, you will need a subwoofer
for bass presentation. These are extremely popular for building entire-house sound systems. There are new full
range drivers that can be discretely mounted on high corners of the room and will flood the room with high quality
sound. Some manufacturers actually provide in-wall subwoofers also. But a strategically placed subwoofer in a hall
way or room corner can easily enable the home owner to have high quality sound fill his entire home.
Many in-wall style speakers also have paintable grilles so the speaker installation will blend in nicely with
your walls or ceiling. This is the best setup imaginable, great sound throughout your home without bulky speakers
or wires everywhere. Of course that brings us to the one negative and that is installation requires running speaker
wires inside your wall space. But if you are up to the task, this is a great way to add sound through out your
house. These are also excellent for any commercial locations also.
Just a few years ago you were very limited on the manufacturers providing in-wall or in-ceiling style speakers.
Today, you will find these speakers from the likes of Polk, Boston Acoustics, Yamaha, Bose, JBL, Infinity, KEF,
Klipsch, MB Quart and more. Of course all the leading manufacturers also provide matching subwoofers to complete
any install
